ZedMotion Case Study: Predicting Range of Motion After Total Hip Arthroplasty

Objective

In total hip arthroplasty, predict postoperative joint range of motion before surgery to evaluate dislocation risk.

Subjects

• Cases: 14 cases, 14 joints
• Sex: 5 male, 9 female
• Surgical approach: THA via posterolateral approach

Evaluation Items

• Joint ROM in flexion and internal rotation
• Relationship between implant placement angle and dislocation risk
• Comparison of preoperative predictions with postoperative measurements

Results

High-risk dislocation positions were identified preoperatively and reflected in fine adjustments to the implant placement angle.

Discussion

Preoperative ROM simulation enabled fine-tuning of the implant placement angle and was considered to contribute to reducing dislocation risk.
